Why can't I find it

Usually, I can find just about any mp3 I want without even using one of those P2P programs like most people might use. No, I go directly to the source. But this time, I've come across a stumbling block. I can't find the song "Freaks in love" by Elton John. Yes, you're wondering why would I bother. After listening to Elton sing it at a concert, well, I had to have it didn't I? And preferably on the cheap mind you. I haven't even bought a single in years mind you. And that's the beauty of modern technology in modern times isn't it? Isn't it really? Go on, admit it. Anyway. So if any of you happen to have that song laying around on your bloated hard disks and portable mp3 players somewhere, well, please, in the spirit of the new year, give generously. Thank you. And a Happy New Year to Lui and those who view my profile and my blog entries looking for sex.

My idea of Lutopia

Lutopia, as you probably don't know, is a fictional world that was dreamed up by Lui and coined by me, as a radical replacement to the place we live in today. Here's what the SBS World Guide has to say on it:

Lutopia - [loo-toh-pee-ah] - The New Order around here

Geography:
About as big as the world we live in now, with more natural, unpolluted resources, that aren't plundered and pilfered by the governments we have today. The environments are kind to all visitors, and all visitors are kind to the environment.

Climate:
The Lutopian environment has within its atmosphere a built-in weather monitoring system that can predict natural disasters, and weather is predictable to within a few months, for convenience's sake. Most of the time it's fine across the ages. The Lutopian environment has an all-new ozone layer, able to protect against both UV rays and noxious gases.

Population:
The Lutopians are a self-regulated population, with each person aware of their impact on the environment. Populations would grow or shrink according to the resources available. Multiculturalism is a favoured ideal, with multi-racial couples in abundance.

Lutopians appreciate all ages, the elderly and young are especially revered. Each person will have something to contribute. The Lutopians will experiment sexually, as long as no one is hurt and morality is maintained. Lutopians generally live shorter, but more meaningful lives.

Religion:
Lutopians abandoned the concept and need for religion, favouring the reality of life.

Language:
All Lutopians are able to communicate in the language of those from other countries. This is an inherent trait.

Answers

Like lui of War of the Waves, I have the belief that we have evolved from ancestral lifeforms, and that there is no god. For me, religion is only a means by which we can feel somehow comforted from the realities of life. It is probably good in small amounts, but when it becomes fanatical, then it becomes a problem. It's almost like a social security blanket. Without it, humans feel too exposed, but I feel we really need to grow out of it. We can't all be like Linus from the Peanuts comics. So far, I have accepted that there are people who believe in different religions, and for whatever reasons they have, but deep down, I can't understand why they need to. I feel sorry for Mormons, and other people who have fallen into the trap of having all these weird beliefs about who or what god is. They're all delusional. All you really need are people who truly care about you, people you really care about, and yourself to function in this world. Another one of life's mysteries solved.

We might evolve further in the future, depending on what's the norm of the time. And I like the idea of eating gm foods. They should make more of them for poorer countries. There is nothing inherently wrong in feeding the world's poor with perfectly modified food stuffs. They need to eat don't they? Another one of life's mysteries solved.

Alien lifeforms did not have any impact on our evolution. In fact, I don't believe in aliens either. There will never be anything of the sort. The only other things out there are microscopic bacteria, too small and remote to make anything of themselves. Any attempts to communicate with these so called intelligent beings have failed because they don't exist. And never will. So you might as well give up hope now. And for any-deity's sake, they did not intervere with our dna. It's almost disgusting even thinking of it. People who believe in aliens are about as delusional as those who believe in gods and ghosts. And another thing, I am fascinated by cults, but only because they group a bunch of fools together for easy lynching. Another one of life's mysteries solved.

That said, why has it taken millions of eons for any intelligent life to come to us? Surely if they were so intelligent, they would have visited us by now, knowing how primitive we are that we cannot possibly come to them. Are they on their way here? God, we are the third rock from the sun. You can't miss us. Only planet to have sentient beings in our solar system. Ironically, we will probably all die out once they reach us. Another one of life's mysteries solved.

So there you have it, my worldly views on the universe, evolution and religion. And my god am I right.

Finally, a well deserved break

And time to do what I want. I can't stop yawning. I finished work earlier yesterday, and the day before that I had dinner at this little place in Macarthur called the Macarthur Country Club. We had a 3 course dinner with my dad's company staff and their families to celebrate my dad's 25 years of service. It was fairly good, I've always enjoyed going to nice places like that, a change from the usual local asian restaurants we always go to. In fact, this whole week has been a bit of a bludge. I mean, most people had left for their holidays earlier in the week, and it was just left to us to fend for ourselves, and keep this place running. I've only got a week off, and it will go by fast as usual. I want to go to the beach, read a bit, eat at a nice place, go shopping somewhere different, and yeah, just basically do what I've always wanted to do without any restriction. Yee, and I definitely want to go out for new year's eve. By jolly I deserve it. I haven't been out all night since never. And I want to spend this time with lui... I mean, I'm old enough for god's sake. I think I'll dye my hair again too.

The Flanimals are so cute! I especially like the mipe, a little spider like thing with beady eyes.
