Like lui of War of the Waves, I have the belief that we have evolved from ancestral lifeforms, and that there is no god. For me, religion is only a means by which we can feel somehow comforted from the realities of life. It is probably good in small amounts, but when it becomes fanatical, then it becomes a problem. It's almost like a social security blanket. Without it, humans feel too exposed, but I feel we really need to grow out of it. We can't all be like Linus from the Peanuts comics. So far, I have accepted that there are people who believe in different religions, and for whatever reasons they have, but deep down, I can't understand why they need to. I feel sorry for Mormons, and other people who have fallen into the trap of having all these weird beliefs about who or what god is. They're all delusional. All you really need are people who truly care about you, people you really care about, and yourself to function in this world. Another one of life's mysteries solved.
We might evolve further in the future, depending on what's the norm of the time. And I like the idea of eating gm foods. They should make more of them for poorer countries. There is nothing inherently wrong in feeding the world's poor with perfectly modified food stuffs. They need to eat don't they? Another one of life's mysteries solved.
Alien lifeforms did not have any impact on our evolution. In fact, I don't believe in aliens either. There will never be anything of the sort. The only other things out there are microscopic bacteria, too small and remote to make anything of themselves. Any attempts to communicate with these so called intelligent beings have failed because they don't exist. And never will. So you might as well give up hope now. And for any-deity's sake, they did not intervere with our dna. It's almost disgusting even thinking of it. People who believe in aliens are about as delusional as those who believe in gods and ghosts. And another thing, I am fascinated by cults, but only because they group a bunch of fools together for easy lynching. Another one of life's mysteries solved.
That said, why has it taken millions of eons for any intelligent life to come to us? Surely if they were so intelligent, they would have visited us by now, knowing how primitive we are that we cannot possibly come to them. Are they on their way here? God, we are the third rock from the sun. You can't miss us. Only planet to have sentient beings in our solar system. Ironically, we will probably all die out once they reach us. Another one of life's mysteries solved.
So there you have it, my worldly views on the universe, evolution and religion. And my god am I right.
