Pythonate

According to the Urban Dictionary:

July 23: pythonate
That contition which befalls an individual or group which being engorged by the consumption of a large, rich or heavy meal, must recline so that the meal may digest.

The entire family had to pythonate for hours after the Thanksgiving meal.

That's what happened to me, during and after work drinks and dinner on Friday night. And I only had two courses this time, and it just felt like I was as bloated as a puddloflaj. I couldn't even sleep properly that night, and I felt weak on Saturday, as if my body was still pythonating. Still it was worth it, and I liked being able to eat a rich meal with people other than my family members. The only thing that was missing was Lui. Of course I invited him, even insisted that he go, but he was adamant that he didn't want to, for fear of being bored to tears by my workmates. Which is understandable, but still, he didn't even want to meet me after work, even just to SEE me. God it grates. Still, I'm over it now. I've come to expect that sort of behaviour from him.

Ok, onto what I had. Yes, I love boasting about my bloated adventures. We arranged for dinner at this European influenced restaurant, called Mohr and Mohr, just up the road from where I work. And this is what I had:

Cassoulet, Duck, Braised Lamb In Tomato & Lima Beans, Sausages And Kassler $25 - This came in an oval oven dish, and the meats were soft, even though I thought the sausages were a bit chewy. It was recommended by a workmate, and it was just so filling, even though the portion didn't seem so big. I think it was just the slowcooked richness of it.

We shared sides of green beans with almond butter, fresh steamed mixed greens and green mixed salad with olives, $5 each.

Then I followed it with Panna Cotta with kiwi fruit and mango $10.50 - the panna cotta was actually quite soft. It tasted like cream that you could cut with a knife.

And I washed it all down with Earl Grey tea, and some house white wines, god, one of which we tried that was donated by our cleaning company, last year for Christmas. And it wasn't the best wine I've tasted, if you can call it that, and I'm not even an expert. It was flat, and we were making jokes about how it was probably cleaning fluid in disguise. It was urine yellow in colour for god's sake.

And then I took the cab home, at the insistence of one of my workmates, at the company's cost. Which I felt bad about, because it ended up costing about $99. I just didn't feel right about it. But, he insisted... so who was I to argue? Still I guess it'll be a while before we have anything like that again. I don't think I could stand another night of pythonating.

Product Review: Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream

What is it: It's a slightly pink, light facial cream, with a soft texture.

Expensive? Also moderately priced (about US$60) , it's a classic all-rounder from Clarins.

What's so good about it: I've got combination skin, and this cream absorbs well enough, and the finish is a slight sheen. It has a slight herbal scent, but seeing as it has a suprising number of natural extracts including ginseng, hops and safflower, it's understandable.

What's kind of crap about it: About the absorbing... sometimes after rubbing the cream in, it leaves little rolls of residue on the surface of the skin, as though it hasn't been absorbed effectively. I don't see why that happens, as I only use a pea size amount on either side of my face.

Would I use it again: Yes. It works well as an everyday cream, with the added bonus of being wrinkle-reducing.

Thanks for the comments, I think

Hey all. You know, until this day, I never thought I'd have anyone else reading this blog except for the usual suspects, i.e my boyfriend and my best friend. But after opening my email to find about 30 emails worth of comments waiting to be approved or rejected, I have to think, yeah, ok, so some people have been doing some browsing out there, a bit of googling and what else.

And you know, ordinarily, I'd think this was a good thing, since I probably have whined about my issues in the past, and annoying the crap out of some people as it seems. Well, I've published quite a few of these comments. And judging from the content, I could say a certain person out there knows me. Well, I'm glad they're alive and well. But I just wish they wouldn't be so offensive in their opinions. This is only a personal blog, and I don't mean to offend anyone. I have never myself left offensive comments on anyone else's blog. If I don't like something about someone's blog, then I'd rather not comment. All I'm trying to do is vent my frustrations, and write about what I feel like, and hopefully entertain some people in the process.

If anything, if these people have something against me, well, tell me who you are. Don't hide behind the anonymous tag.
