The word of the day is pathetic
Yes, it's probably been quite a while, and some of you may have given up entirely on any further random updates from me. Well good. I'm glad. Separates the wheat from the chafe, I say.
I'm on holidays now, which is practically 3 weeks including the public holidays. Of course I didn't need to take 2 of those 3 weeks off, but I figured I might as well, given the fact I didn't have a bludge last year. So, the time is rightfully mine. Ha, it actually feels rather good, knowing that people still at work were relying on me being there, and knowing that they can do fuck all about it that I'm not. Because I'm on leave. So they can stuff that up their stockings.
Bitterness aside, I simply must tell you about the Christmas dinner we had. Shocking. I should never have owned up to it. What happened was, I took a call from a guy spruiking the Arthouse Cafe at the Entertainment Quarter (ridiculous name, they refer to it as the EQ) at Fox Studios of all places, which I then promptly passed onto another staff member who then made the dinner booking. So it's really his fault, but still, I tried taking the credit thinking it was going to be good, but it wasn't. For what they suggested would be "Grain-fed T-Bone Steak served with warm garlic potato and mixed salad in a balsamic dressing" for a kingly sum of $26.90 (the most expensive dish I've had so far) turned out to be nothing more than the driest piece of beef I've ever tasted, served with a paltry serving of dry roasted potatoes (probably out of a bag, in fact, probably McCains) and a standard side salad I could get better down at the salad bar. PATHETIC. In fact, I could honestly say I could have had the equivalent better down at the pub. The meat wasn't even served with gravy for god's sake (who does that these days?!?) and it wasn't even medium-done as I specifically requested.
Mind you, I wasn't the only one appalled by such poor standards. A few dishes weren't up to scratch, and had to be sent back. And they were even reluctant to give us a proper discount. All in all, it was probably the worst eating experience I've ever had. And that's saying something.
It wasn't all bad though, we went ten pin bowling, and I discovered that after about 10 years, I was still as crap at bowling as I was back then. But it all paid off as I was given a cd voucher for being the best at being the worst. I still haven't spent that voucher. Waiting for something worthwhile to get I suppose.
Well that's enough of this for today children. Run along now.
